Jordan River Restoration - Tourist Center,
Kibbutz Gesher, Jordan Valley, 2018.
Alexandra Saitova, Inbar Mahlouf, Lotem
Hamama, fourth year students, Department of
Architecture, Wizo, Haifa.
Tutors:
Architects Prof. Baruch Baruch, Dr. Dana
Margalit and Michal Bar-Oz.
Collaborating with the Department of Geography
and Environmental Studies at Haifa University,
the project aims to restore the Jordan River and
its adjacent ecological corridor as a case study
for restoring open spaces and eco systems in the
frame work of Israel-Jordan relations towards 2048.
Focusing on the south side of the Jordan, the
project proposes to develop tourism on both sides
of the border as an opportunity for collaboration with
Jordan. The idea is to restore the Ottoman Railway
Station, the historical Mamluk bridges, British Police
Station, and turn the fish ponds into ecological
purification ponds, as part of an International Center
for Study, Tourism and Recreation.
