Interior designer Yifat Shmerling
shares an office
with an architect and a real estate appraiser.
As a former moshavnik who searches for meaning
between the words, she designs in the gaps between
work meetings with clients, suppliers and field
supervision, while the office mainly provides her
technical needs.
Perfectly in control of design software, she sits with a
laptop in random places that provide her with visual
stimuli, softening her amazingly precise work with a
human dimension.
On both pages:
The Trade-Tech offices, London.
London - a city with clear urban features - the
Brutalist building of the sixties and seventies, the red
buses, the underground, and the symbolic admiration
for everything related to the royal family.
All these inspired the design language of the open
space - bare concrete with bright birch wood that
serves as background to the precise ergonomic
furniture.
In contrast to the restrained design of the open space,
the leisure area and the cafeteria include a light metal
library in warm blue, red and yellow colors, while the
infrastructure is left exposed against the concrete
ceiling.
Above:
A thought-provoking positioning of frames
and cubes at the reception desk, against a
background of the formal conference room.
Right page:
Relaxing in the leisure area.
Design: Ifat Shmerling.
