buildings or urban space proves that a re-
examination of the programmatic process
is only one option for architects facing the
task of conversion, gaining momentum in
the framework of the renewed popularity
of sustainability.
Moreover, when thematic design based
on invented narratives controls interior
design, building conversion raises
cultural, intellectual, political and social
challenges, constituting a fine opportunity
for architects and designers, without
disrupting the urban pattern.
