The conserved, expanded building from the fifties’,
was originally built for the Farmers Association.
Originally designed by Architect Shmuel Rozov,
the simple four story rectangular building reflects
climate awareness, expressed in a central courtyard
with a peripheral corridor to let in natural light; a
well calculated reference to sunlight direction, and
prefabricated elements with changing patterns; and
a self-shading triangle facade on the east side for
filtered light. The conservation included the addition
of three floors, the first of which is smaller in diameter
to emphasize the layers of time, while the two upper
floors maintain the original floor size. In accordance
with the climate aware approach, yet not without
style differences, the new floors are surrounded
by double-glazed shutters, allowing filtered light to
penetrate the glazed screen walls, with a system
of perimeter bridges providing easy access for
maintenance.
