2025 אוגוסט 142 אדריכלות ישראלית MAD אורח העונה - 69 | | | Harbin Opera House, China Located in northern China, the design was poetically inspired by the forces of wind, water and natural light to form a sculpted cultural landmark. The curvilinear façade of smooth white aluminum panels rises from the earth like a snowdrift, wrapping a public plaza and inviting visitors into a sequence of fluid, theatrical spaces. Inside (as seen in the drawing at right page), the 1,600-seat Grand Theater is clad in Manchurian Ash, while its warm interior is carved like a block of wood eroded by time. The smaller, 400-seat theater features a panoramic window behind the stage, connecting performances to the surrounding wetlands. Carved exterior paths lead the public to the building’s rooftop, where an outdoor performance platform offers views across Harbin’s skyline and frozen rivers.
