Sky Garden, Seoul
A new project designed by MVRDV, with
James Corner and Piet Oudolf transformed
a previous highway into a "Plant Library"
in the heart of the city. Reminiscent of the
successful High Line planned in 2014 in New
York by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Piet
Oudolf, the project is organized according to
the Korean Alphabet. The park is only one
kilometer long, but its urban advantage is
that it bridges different parts of the city above
the busy junction, while constituting a tourist
attraction that contributes to the promotion of
the city as a green oriented location.
The circular geometry of plant pots is
developed for all the auxiliary buildings
scattered around the space, among them
tea houses, flower shops, markets, libraries,
facilities, greenhouses and peek holes that
add interest to the project.
The idea is that with the growth of the plants
and the repertoire, the project will serve as
an example for adjacent parts of the city.

״ספריית הצמחים״ המאורגנת על פי האלף-בית
הקוריאני, מכניסה סדר במערך האקראי המאפיין
את העיר, ומקילה על ההתמצאות בפארק.
הגיאומטריה העגולה של עציצי הצמחים מופיעה
גם במבני התמך, הפזורים במרחב כגון: בתי-תה,
חנויות פרחים, שווקים, ספריות, חממות, שירותים
וחרכי הצצה שמוסיפים עניין לפרויקט.
הרעיון הוא שעם התפתחות הצמחייה והרחבת
הרפרטואר, הפרויקט יהפוך למעין משתלה אורבנית,
וישמש דוגמה לחלקי העיר הסמוכים.
