Initiated by the Tamar Regional Council, a
graffiti project of environmental elements
such as irrigation boxes, faucets and
electrical structures, has been completed in
Ein Bokek - by three young artists who have
recently graduated from Shenkar College of
Engineering and Design: Andre Misin, Dima
Korma and Mani Yankowitz.

The Department of Visual Communication at
the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, has
marked seventy years of diplomatic relations
between Israel and France, in a Design Week
that included artists workshops, inspired by
the 1968 student revolt.
The 2018 David Azrieli scholarship award for
students of architecture went to: first prize -
Hila Rahima from
WIZO
Haifa for her "Square
of many" project; second place - Baka Krum
from Tel Aviv University, who designed a
community center in a refugee camp titled
No Mans Land; third prize - Matan Gal from
Bezalel, who explored Israel / Africa relations.

Frederick who has become a worldwide
Sage for students of architecture - simplifies
ambiguous ideas via 101 collected lessons on
planning, drawing, and student presentation.

Architect Moshe Safdie is one of the seven
winners of the 2019 Wolf Prize. Safdie
was selected for his work as a ground-
breaking architect in the course of the last
52 years, beginning with Habitat 67, built in
the framework of the Montreal Expo (see
extensive article in AI, issue 113). The Wolf
prize is awarded every three years in the
fields of science, chemistry, mathematics,
medicine, physics and arts, alternating with
architecture, music, painting and sculpture.
The ceremony will be held in May in the
presence of the President.
Ackerstein Industries Ltd., the Israel Council
for Green Building and the Israeli Association
of Architects announced a conceptual
competition for the planning of an educational,
cultural or recreational building, utilizing
Ackerstein's pre-fabricated elements. The
competition is open to licensed architects.
A competition for the design of a flamingo
observation tower in the Al Wathba Wetland
Reserve in Abu Dhabi was announced:

announced for the planning of a Poets’
Complex in the little port town of Pavilosta,
at the mouth of the Saco River in Corland,
on the western shore of Latvia. Located in
the fishing village, the Complex will include
workshops and lodgings for limited stays of
selected poets seeking inspiration.

The Israel Lottery has awarded scholarships
to six artists: product designer Na’ama
Agassi; product designers and graphic artists
Neta Oshri and Tom Cohen; textile designer
Na’ama Ben Moshe; product designer Michal
Levitzky; and industrial designer Niv Tishbi.
The Israel Association of Architects offers
legal advice (preliminary only) to its members
at monthly meetings…

Approved in 2017 the Kikar Hamedina Project
is taking off. Designed by Yasky Mor Sivan
Architects, three twisted 40 storey towers
will hold 450 apartments for the wealthy, and
a ten-storey tower will be devoted to public
functions.
Land ownership is shared among 200
owners, including the Tel Aviv municipality.

"Sections" - an interesting exhibition by
architect Udi Kremsky was on display at
the Periscope Gallery until January. Udi,
a sought-after lecturer at the HIT has long
explored the impact of materials such as
clay, perspex and wood, in terms of working
in section, on spatial configuration and the
space experience of the user.

A comprehensive article dealing with
Kremsky's works will soon appear in
Architecture of Israel.
The Jerusalem Economic Development
Company initiated a graffiti project in the
Talpiot industrial zone. Titled "Walls", several
graffiti artists were invited to paint on ten
plastered walls built during the seventies’
when covering buildings in stone was
neglected. Among the artists are the GAB
and Elna brothers; Yaeli Gabrieli, Sane
Smith, and Chinese sculptress and musician,
Rouhan Wang, from Germany.
The exhibition "New Age" at the Bat Yam
Museum of Art reexamines the spiritual
movement intrinsic to an abundance of
beliefs and methods, aiming to identify the
sincerity of its appearances in the local field
of art. Participating artists: Uri Katzenstein,
Eitan Ben-Moshe, Elinor Salomon, Ariela
Shavid, Tamir Lichtenberg, Issachar Ber
Ryback, Lior Shachar, Millie Barzilai, Netaly
Aylon, Omer Halperin, Ravid Freedman and
Eliran Dahan.

Displayed for the sixteenth time at the Eretz
Israel Museum, two parallel exhibitions -
"World Press Photo" and "Local Testimony"
deal with photojournalism and documentary
photography. 7,000 photographs of 350
professional photographers were submitted,
out of which a 170 photographs, seven
works and videos were selected, as well as
"photograph of the year" and "series of the
year".
And for anyone traveling to Estonia… the
exhibition "A room of one's own: feminist
questions about architecture" is shown at
the Open air Museum in Tallinn Estonia.
Constituting a modern interpretation of
Virginia Woolf's saying that money and a
