Land(e)scape -

A dramatic architectural installation designed

to draw attention to the plight of the Finish countryside, realized

in Savonlinna, Finland in 1999 and exhibited at the 7th Venice

Biennale

Commenting on the desertification process of the Finnish

countryside, three abandoned barns each weighing about 3,500

kg were mounted on 10-metre tall wooden planks, to give them

the appearance of a "slow, majestic walk". The work was done in

a short time with unconventional, archaic building methods. The

barns perished after being set on fire during a traditional carnival,

choreographed by dancer Reijo Kela.

מיצב סביבתי, שנבנה בסבולינה, פינלנד, והוצג אחר כך בביתן הפיני

בביאנלה השביעית לאדריכלות בוונציה.

המיצג המבוסס על שלושה אסמים נטושים. נועד לבקר את תהליך

הנטישה של החקלאות הפינית. כל אסם השוקל כשלושה וחצי טון

הורם על רגליים בגובה עשרה מטר, כדי להעניק להם ״צעידה מלכותית״.

האסמים נכחדו לאחר שהועלו באש בקרניבל, על פי תכנון מראש של

כוריאוגרף הריקוד ריו קלה.

הרעיון נהגה ונבנה ידנית על ידי סמי רינטאלה ומרקו קזהגרנדה.
