2025 אוגוסט 142 אדריכלות ישראלית MAD אורח העונה - 89 | | | gratitude and regret in the world of fake editorial 37 years ago, when we were looking for short initials for issue number 1 of Architecture of Israel, we were struck by a "revelation" - AI that perfectly describes the first two letters of the name - in Hebrew, English, Arabic, and probably Yiddish. Thirty years have passed since this combination became the most common concept in the world, causing many to ask "why don't we charge royalties for intellectual property?"... And the answer we adopted out of fear for our peace of mind is: we are considering it... In the meantime, the magazine is skyrocketing thanks to its quality... And anyway, I have no idea what we would do with all the billions we may receive... If anything, it will probably happen in next world, and who knows if there are shops, cafes, and restaurants there - I heard that there is only fire in the "wicked" section. In any case, to be on the safe side, I checked, and the first to think about the benefits of artificial intelligence was Homer, who wrote about it explicitly in the Iliad and the Odyssey; the Cabalists, who described it through the Ten Sefirot as a synergic combination of thoughts, feelings, and emotions; and Aristotle, who spoke of the unique value of the Sixth Sense. One of the advantages of (our) AI name, is that people are sure that we are dealing with matters of intelligence, and for years I have been receiving about ten e-mails a day from ACADEMIA saying that this or that scientific article has quoted my name somewhere in the world. Although I must admit that it brings me satisfaction that we are not shaming AI despite all the global hostility Israel has received recently, people are still interested in what we are doing here in the problematic mess that we have learned to swim in, without regret or gratitude, depending on which way you look at it. I would not mention it, except that, for several weeks now I have been receiving a message from the Next World saying that "The late Meir Benyahu (I swear I did not invent the name) uploaded an article to ACADEMIA in which the name "Ami Ran - Architecture of Israel" is mentioned. I checked my architect's license and saw that it was really me. At first, I had worrying thoughts about the connection between this world and the next world; in Judaism for example, the transition between them is precisely what allows people whose world has been destroyed to say the humbly accepting sentence "God gave, God took away". In this very context I recall that my Dutch neighbor said that she heard with her own ears Anne Frank say that the reason the dead receive many more flowers than the living is that regret has a much stronger meaning than gratitude. However, in a complete reversal process, as if one would say "God took away, God gave back"... one may conclude that there are actually three worlds - one of gratitude, the next of regret, and the fake one in which no one can distinguish between this or that. Later in this issue, we devoted an article to the topic of addiction, where we compare addiction to AI to addiction to laxatives: in both cases one can get a great amount of output, with relatively small effort.
