2025 אוגוסט 142 עד מתי רשעים יעלוזו אדריכלות ישראלית 59 | | | Kijk-Kubus, East Rotterdam When this challenging project was built forty years ago, it was seen as an unripened architectural gimmick. The skewed angles of separate staircases for each housing unit were contrary to Dutch efficient architectural logic, especially for the excellent site on the eastern side of the city near the "Blaak" train station. Some saw it as a "student project" suitable to be submitted in the framework of an architecture school studio. But the insistence of architect Piet Bloom, then 50 years old, to discard the conventions, in fact, forged the way for Dutch architects, who are currently considered world leaders. Against this backdrop, it is interesting to think about how a local committee of any Israeli town would respond to submission of such a plan today.
