The concept is to encourage experiential, mixed-age learning, without depending on traditional classrooms. Instead, the building features "houses" for multi-age groups. Accordingly, the building includes many open spaces which allow varied encounters and learning experiences in informal and un-designated spaces. The entrance lobby includes a sunken amphitheater - "the parliament" - used for communal meetings and discussions where students and teachers make decisions together. The library, located on the ground floor, opens onto a shaded inner patio that functions as a kind of café for the students’ use. Two rectangular volumes define the entrance - one anchored to the ground and the other suspended - symbolizing a balance between spirit and matter, stability and movement, present and future.
