Safe, nearly fence-free access is provided via a shaded front plaza and a side yard that allows for more intimate encounters between children and accompanying parents. The building is designed to resemble a play block, "placed" on the lot, decorated with "randomly" placed openings which lend the building a playful, elegant, and youthful appearance. The main entrance is set in a shaded recess. Each classroom has its own entrance lobby, with a coat closet and all services and work spaces designed to suit childrens' ergonomic needs.
