אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 131

2022 נובמבר #131 האדריכלות הפולנית המשוחררת אדריכלות ישראלית 31 | | | Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie - Centrum Dialogu Przełomy, Szczecin The city of Szczecin is one of the most profound victims of historical violence in Poland. Included within the borders of Germany until the end of World War II it was annexed to Poland in 1945, disrupting the cultural identity of its inhabitants. Solidarności Square, which was the showcase of the city, became, in the aftermath of the bombing by the Allied forces, an empty space in the urban fabric. During the social protests in 1970, 16 demonstrators were killed there, and since then the square has become a symbol of the struggle against the communist regime. It is defined by several architectural interventions, including a memorial to the fallen (2005), a new concert hall for the Philharmonic Orchestra designed by Estudio Barozzi Veiga (2014), and a museum of history to commemorate the events of the past designed by Robert Konieczny elevated, sloping public square in the center above an underground exhibition hall. The square, which is a meeting place for all ages, connects all the elements of culture - a concert hall, a monument and an internationally recognized modern museum.
