"At the age of 50, about 8 years ago, I decided to fulfil this 'commandment' and gave myself the freedom to create something out of nothing. It was intuitive, without any definition or pre-conceived purpose. The title Agricultural Compositions came to my mind through the basic issues preoccupying me as a practicing landscape architect: Nature, Agriculture, Horticulture and Architecture. In my opinion, these components perfectly describe human development, constituting vital companions for landscape architects in particular, and for all of us since the dawn of history." As someone who is surrounded by nature in Kerem Maharal - Ofer’s source of inspiration is love of Nature – the masterpiece of creation; agriculture – an act of human survival learned from nature; and horticulture – professional expansion for the soul, engaging forms and colors in the frame of limitless creative freedom. "My paintings come from a longing for the old-fashioned work table – sketching freely with rapidograph and pencil - a completely intuitive process, distinct from any targeted result. It expresses the freedom to create without limitations, where the meaning lies in the process rather than the purpose.” Ofer’s paintings are done during work hours and leisure time at home, in book stores or cafes in Israel and abroad. They always begin as a black and white sketch, coming to life through colors, expressing the world before we touch it, and life afterwards… The interpretation is in the eyes of the beholder.
