Technology and Simulation Center, Sourasky
Medical Center, Tel Aviv, 2018
Located in what was previously a basement shelter, lacking in
light and ventilation, the center trains hospital teams through
simulated medical procedures before implementing them in
reality. The complex includes high-tech operating theaters, a
delivery and doctor’s room, logistics, lobby, cafeteria, dressing
rooms, office, communications room, and services.
While the white training areas were designed as cold sterile
spaces, the public spaces are warm and pleasant: carpets
decorated with cardiogram lines also serve as an acoustic
component. Old, unused equipment, symbolic DNA of medical
evolution, was incorporated in plexiglas boxes in the training
rooms and lounge.
