Located on Moshav Fazael in the Jordan Valley, the house consists of two cubes two
patios and two gardens - one enclosed and the other open. Thus, the parts of the
building that vary in size and location are organized according to their distance from
the endless, arid desert.
Structured by walls and openings, this regulated arrangement creates a gradual,
bidirectional, penetration of the outside into the inside, and of the inside towards
the outside, according to the required level of exposure on one hand, and needed
privacy on the other hand.
While the smaller cube, which includes the living area, opens gradually onto the two
patios and in-turn the garden, open to the endless surroundings, the larger cube that
includes the bedrooms, faces a private courtyard.
Regulated by walls and openings, the effect of the hot and dry climate is controlled,
enabling passive shading and ventilation during the summer, while in the winter -
greater exposure to the warming sun rays.
This relationship gives the cubic structure an architectural depth that blends modestly
with the desert surroundings against the mountainous background.
