Industrial/grooming
Located in the Toto Mall next to the new La Park entertainment and leisure compound, the
Burger Bar restaurant is based on the concept of recycling, using raw industrial materials
with a meticulous and polished finish. This yields a fruitful tension between qualities of
light, heavy, coarse and fine objects: Tables made from carefully painted oil barrels;
lighting fixtures made from beer barrels suspended from metal chains; agricultural taps
and pipes, and two-sided mirrors that separate men/women toilets where the walls are
constructed from a dismantled container.
The space is organized in four seating areas: a central bar behind which is the kitchen,
seen through a semi-transparent colorfully lit glass; seating along a counter /bench,
facing the park: a VIP room that can be shut off by container doors; light fixtures made
from bicycle wheels; and a bar made of an old food transporter, linking the restaurant
and adjacent park.
