semi-detached house in ramat hasharon

what do you do when someone asks you to design a unique house on a limited budget

Built in the fifties, this semi-detached house with its low ceiling and multiple columns required redesigning to meet the residents’ contemporary needs. That is – to create open, flwing, bright and ventilated spaces with suitable proportions.

Dense space division and limiting building lines typical of semi-detached houses, often result in a narrow courtyard around the house, making separation from neighbors and the surrounding public spaces a major challenge in the design.

The chosen solution - constructing a house of two masses that differ in finishing materials and essentially behave differently.

This facilitated a distinction between private and public, while establishing an intimate relationship with the surrounding landscape, without too much concern about privacy.
