Sitting at the top of the Olympus, the group of Greek gods watches the Olympic Games with epicurean grandeur. Between nectar and ambrosia they spit out sunflower seeds and voice their learned opinions about the wrestlers, sprinters, discus- and spear-throwers. Even back then, at the cradle of enlightened thinking, it was clear to the gods (and to God) that competition is a lofty value, molding the shape of every culture. It is not surprising that the first architectural competition was held for the eternal Acropolis of Athens, 2500 years ago, and has ever since exhibited the most famous buildings in the world.
