אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 128

2022 פברואר 128 בית הספר לאדריכלות באוניברסיטת תל אביב אדריכלות ישראלית 61 | | The winning proposal by Tzionov Vitkon Architects Lior Tzionov and Lior Vitkon, graduates of the Azrieli School of Architecture who as students experienced the transition from the temporary building at Kiryat Atidim to its present campus location, translated the program verbatim, calling their entry 'Facing the City'. This deductive concept was previously used by opponents of moving the Faculty of Architecture of the Technion from its historic building in Hadar Haifa to the detached campus of the Technion in Neve Sha'anan. Later on, the slogan was used by the Bezalel Academy School of Architecture on its return from the Mount Scups campus to Bezalel’s historic building in town. Taking advantage of the unique location of the building, the entry (like all the other ones) emphasized the opportunity to connect the inside activity of the campus with the surrounding space, in accordance with the university's guidelines on taking advantage of the buildings' commercial value along the surrounding fence. The design proposes an active building operating around the clock, with a green inner square linking the School of Architecture and the adjacent School of Music. Mixed-use functions will be situated on the ground floor, with the open space studio to be located on the floors above - viewing and viewed from the outside through a semi-transparent shell (See also next page).
