Profile of the Season - Architect Maoz Price אדריכלות ישראלית Architecture of Israel # 127 November 2021 | | 66 "I spent my military service as a crew member of the 669 rescue unit, where I learnt the meaning of friendship, the importance of human relations and especially the synergic advantage of team work. I believe that with talent and the capacity to lead a process, one can accomplish an aesthetic project without giving up on its functional aspects. "After finishing my second degree I was accepted by KPF, the vast architectural firm, where I learnt the real meaning of working in a team on mega-projects; the senior architects encouraged every architect to freely express his mind and ideas, giving them the feeling of being part of a family. profile of the season Maoz Price Architects Dr. Hillit Mazor "Equipped with basic experience of planning projects on a New York scale, I returned to Israel and did my real training in three architectural firms: Chyutin Architects, Gottesman Shmeltzman Architects and Orbach Halevi Architects. The work at Chyutin was an intimate experience, especially relative to the large office of KPF. I was particularly impressed by Bracha Chyutin’s involvement in every project. She used to close herself in her office, with a pencil and cigarettes, until she came out with her perfect sketch. At Gottesman Shmeltzman I worked for several years with Ami Shmeltzman, from whom I learnt that planning a project is like riding a horse, a momentary lack of attention and you fall off…And as the years pass I realize how right he was. There I also learnt to come to a new project with an open mind and never repeat myself, or you end up with soulless projects, as you see all around the country. My next station was the Orbach Halevi officewhere I worked next toOri Halevi and Daphna Biran. From them I absorbed the open approach, and the freedom to create that every architect needs to maximize his or her creative potential. This I try to implement in my own MPArchitecture office that I established in 2008 in Tel Aviv. Maoz Price grew up in Rishon LeZion. His father owned a construction paints agency and his mother served for many for many years as an army officer. At home he learnt three values necessary to reach any goal: Hard work, determination and persistence. After graduating with a first degree in architecture at the Pratt Institute, he finished his second degree in distinction at Columbia University; both institutions emphasize the art dimension as a core element in the architectural concept, assuming that life would teach you its practicality.
