אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 121

| קטגוריית מבנים - 2020 תחרות פרויקט השנה we looked evolution in the eye and it sneezed in our faces The Pandemic, which has managed to disrupt the ways of the arrogant, complacent world with the thrust of a sword, has again proved that man can make his plans, but evolution (sorry, God) will ultimately determine the rules of the game; not Chinese efficiency or economy run by impulsive rulers, not Waze that determines our ways, or the Hamas who attempts to disrupt them. All have failed to predict the size of the trap these nano creatures have set us. Dressing in the white costume of aliens and masks that prevent us from breathing have taught us that shaking hands isn’t such a wise custom (who knows what they were doing a moment ago) and that sitting at home is far safer than catching diseases in hospitals. No less interesting is the fact that the situation has caught us unprepared; as if all the million kinds of viruses haven’t enjoyed symbiotic relations with all forms of life through evolutionary change propelled by the need to survive. And since Corona and all her children are no less wise than Man (may the little cretin from Balfour forgive me) there is no real point in scattering arrogant declarations such as: “the next stage is to do away with death”, or “it’s just a matter of time before the Annunciation emerges from Nes Ziona, Kiryat Shmonah or even from some bleach factory.” All we wanted was to get home safely and stay comfortably in solitude for two or three more weeks until the dove of peace says the flood is over. And, according to Noah, who invented the plow, the vineyard and the wine that pleasures the soul to senselessness, God promised that next time Man sinned He wouldn’t destroy the world with a flood and, in exchange, human beings vowed not to kill each other, and animals swore they wouldn’t prey on human beings. But, since Noah didn’t read the small letters (may Ganz forgive him) and all agreements ain’t worth shit, human beings are the only animals who raise other livestock in order to eat them. This is by no means alluding to some who made a political fortune out of the sneezing nano creatures, but, as Einstein said, it’s hard to argue with facts – and anyone who twice repeats the same experiment and wonders why he gets the same results, is a fool. And one cannot argue with fools for they live in a different paradigm… evidence of which is the crashed economy that took us back to the oranges era after Bibi alone, he and not Ser(a)ph. He, since we have no other God (may evolution forgive me) has managed to get us out of it, “thanks to his personal connections” as the disturbed infant from Balfour street explained to his stupefied American audience. But as my father said - there is good in every bad, and the quarantine imposed on us by a one-time alliance between evolution, God, His son and his wife, has caused us to Zoom this issue into a digital version, publishing this year’s project competition – which will increase circulation while enabling us to explore the possibility of saving paper, expensive printing and stamps costing thousands of shekels. Thirty two years of publication is no walk in the park and even if it is, knees are sometimes painful. We take this as a golden opportunity to thank the international judging panel: Prof. Winka Dubbeldam from Archi-Tectonics (chairman); Architect David Knafu, chairman of the Israeli Architects Association; Prof; Dr. Siamak G. Shahneshin from Zurich; Architect Prof. Klokocka Jiri from Belgium; Dr. Osnat Rosen-Kremer from Wizo-Haifa; and Architect Rafi Rich from the Technion, Haifa. And once again, thanks to AI CEO Rachel Ben-Aharon, who ran the competition with her typical and welcome integrity. Architect Dr. Ami Ran Editorial editorial 2020 מאי 121 אדריכלות ישראלית 5 |
